By the way, if a hacker hacks the system of a government organization, he is arrested and punished.
But what happened to the person who hacked NASA’s systems is shocking.
The hacker announced on X (Twitter) that he had discovered vulnerabilities in NASA’s systems.
But instead of hacking the systems, he reported the vulnerabilities to NASA to give the space agency time to fix them.
In response to the post, NASA sent a letter of appreciation to the hacker.
The letter credits the hacker for identifying vulnerabilities in NASA’s systems and helping to protect them.
NASA acknowledged that this individual helped it secure its information infrastructure.
In this X-post, the hacker said that he had re-hacked NASA’s systems and reported some of the vulnerabilities, to which the space agency responded by sending a letter of commendation after fixing the vulnerabilities.
Finding and reporting security vulnerabilities is a critical skill, the letter of commendation said.
The letter is signed by Mark Witt, NASA’s Chief Information Officer.
